Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Individuals: Changing the Conversation Around Suicide

  Event description: The transgender and gender nonconforming community shows vastly higher rates of suicide risk when compared to the general population. This presentation will go over the risk factors but focus on the protective factors. LGBTQ+ History: Queer Activism

Join us for our monthly LGBTQ Center Leadership Lunch Series which features speakers from the community to highlight leadership in LGBTQ+ activism. The October lunch event will cover LGBTQ+ history through the early 20th century to today, ranging from the Stonewall Riots, queer activists, and the ban on transgender people in the military. This is a chance for folks to come together, connect, and build community. Friends and family members are welcome! We will meet 2nd Thursday and 4th Fridays during the fall semester at rotating locations throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Our first meetup will be held September 14, 6-7:30 on the Weaver Street Market lawn.
